Frequently Asked Questions

Teen Camp

Q. WHAT IS THE SIGNATURE INTERIOR DESIGN CAMP?

The Signature Interior Design Camp is an immersive, hands-on experience that introduces girls to the real world of interior design.

Each camper arrives with measurements for one room in her home that she would like to design. We guide her through an age-appropriate version of the professional design process: uncovering her personal style, establishing a creative direction, creating a scaled floor plan, selecting fabrics and furnishings, and presenting a completed room concept.

The goal is for each camper to leave with a ready-to-execute plan that reflects her own ideas, style and decision-making.

This is not an arts and crafts camp. It offers girls a meaningful look inside the interior design profession while encouraging creativity, confidence and independent thinking.

Q. WHO CAN ATTEND?

The Signature Interior Design Camp is designed for girls entering grades 6–12. Campers are grouped by age when appropriate so that each student can participate at a level that feels both comfortable and challenging.

Q. DOES MY DAUGHTER NEED PREVIOUS DESIGN EXPERIENCE?

Not at all! Campers do not need previous experience with interior design, drafting or design software. We teach the process step by step and provide guidance and resources throughout the experience.

A genuine interest in interiors, creativity or learning more about the profession is all she needs.

Q. IS THIS AN ARTS AND CRAFTS CAMP?

No. While the camp is creative and hands-on, campers are introduced to the same foundational process used by professional interior designers, presented in an engaging and age-appropriate format.

Q. WHAT WILL MY DAUGHTER LEARN?

Campers will learn how to:
  • Identify and communicate a personal design style
  • Develop a name, logo and brand for an imaginary design firm
  • Create a scaled floor plan
  • Consider furniture placement and traffic flow
  • Work with color, pattern and texture
  • Pair fabrics and finishes
  • Source furnishings and accessories
  • Build a cohesive room concept
  • Present and explain their design decisions

Q. WILL MY DAUGHTER COMPLETE HER OWN PROJECT?

Yes. Each camper will develop a complete design plan for one room in her own home. Her finished concept will reflect her personal style, ideas and design decisions.

Q. CAN MY DAUGHTER INCLUDE THE INTERIOR DESIGN CAMP ON HER RÉSUMÉ?

Yes! The Interior Design Camp is an experience she can include on a résumé, school application or activities list.

Campers complete a structured, project-based introduction to the professional interior design process. Depending on the format of her résumé, she could list it as:
  • Interior Design Camp Participant — 2027

Completed an immersive interior design program focused on space planning, scaled floor plans, color and pattern, fabric and furniture sourcing, client presentations, and the development of a complete room concept.

Participation in the camp is not a professional certification, but it is a meaningful educational experience that demonstrates initiative, creativity and an interest in exploring a potential career path.

Q. ARE MATERIALS INCLUDED?

Yes. All materials needed to complete the camp curriculum are included with registration. Details about laptops, chargers and any personal items will be provided in the pre-camp information email.

Q. DOES MY DAUGHTER NEED TO BRING A LAPTOP?

Campers should bring a fully charged laptop and charger for portions of the curriculum involving research, sourcing and presentations. Requirements may vary by session, so families will receive instructions before camp.

Q. WILL FOOD AND DRINKS BE PROVIDED?

Food and beverage details vary by session and location. Families will receive specific information before camp regarding snacks and anything campers should bring.

Please disclose any food allergies or dietary restrictions during registration. While we will make every reasonable effort to accommodate campers, we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.

Q. WHAT SHOULD CAMPERS WEAR?

Campers should wear comfortable, age-appropriate clothing and shoes that allow them to move easily and participate throughout the day.

We ask that girls wear professional attire for showroom visits, although comfortable sneakers are completely fine. Most girls wear a dress or skirt with sneakers.

Q. CAN THE CAMP ACCOMMODATE LEARNING DIFFERENCES OR OTHER SPECIAL NEEDS?

We want every camper to have a positive and successful experience. Parents are encouraged to disclose any relevant learning differences, medical needs or requested accommodations during registration.

We will communicate with families in advance to determine whether reasonable accommodations can be provided within the camp setting.

Q. ARE PARENTS ALLOWED TO STAY DURING CAMP?

The Interior Design Camp is designed as a drop-off experience. Participating independently helps campers build confidence, collaborate with their peers and become fully immersed in the design process.

Families will receive detailed drop-off and pick-up instructions before camp.

Q. WHAT HAPPENS IF A SESSION SELLS OUT?

Once a session reaches capacity, families may join the waitlist. If a seat becomes available, we will contact families in the order in which waitlist requests were received and provide a limited amount of time to complete registration.

Q. WILL PHOTOS OR VIDEOS BE TAKEN AT CAMP?

Photos and videos may be taken during camp for use on The Interior Design Camp website, social media and future marketing materials.

Parents or guardians will be asked to review and complete the applicable media release during registration.

Q. HOW WILL I RECEIVE CAMP DETAILS?

Registered families will receive a pre-camp email with the schedule, location information, drop-off and pick-up instructions, what to bring, attire recommendations and other important details.

Please ensure that the email address provided during registration is accurate and actively monitored.

Registration is confirmed only after full payment is received. Due to limited seating and high demand, spots cannot be held without payment. Once payment is submitted, your child’s place in camp is secured.
