Hi, I’m Amy Kummer, an interior designer, business owner, mom, and lifelong believer that the spaces around us have the power to make everyday life more beautiful.
For more than a decade, I’ve had the privilege of turning that belief into a career through my residential design firm, Amy Kummer Interiors, where I create colorful, collected and highly personal homes for families. My work is rooted in a love of pattern, textiles, traditional design and the idea that a beautiful home should never feel too precious to actually live in.
Over the years, my work has taken me beyond my clients’ homes and given me opportunities I once only dreamed about. I was honored to design a room for the Hampton Designer Showhouse, joining an incredible group of designers to transform a showhouse space of my own. I also participated in the La Petite Maison Gala, where designers created one-of-a-kind dollhouses in support of charity—an experience that combined so many things I love: imaginative design, beautiful details and giving back.
My work and perspective on design have also been featured in numerous local and national publications and media outlets, allowing me to share my approach to creating a beautiful, livable home with an even wider audience.
But some of the most meaningful moments in my career have come from simply sharing what I’ve learned.
And that's ultimately what led me here.
I realized that after years of working professionally in this industry, I could create the experience I wished already existed. Young people have so few opportunities to explore potential career paths before making important decisions about college and their futures. Why weren't we using their summers to give them that chance?
I kept thinking about
the creative girl.
As a mom, I had watched kids attend camps for nearly every sport imaginable. They had places to learn from experienced coaches, practice their skills, meet other kids who loved the same things they did and discover where those interests might take them.
The girl who has rearranged her bedroom since she was little.
Who notices the wallpaper when her family walks into a restaurant. Who loves fabric samples, paint colors and floor plans.
Who saves pictures of beautiful rooms and dreams
about what she would do differently.
Not just decorating a pretty room, but learning how designers think. How we develop a concept, read a floor plan, understand scale, mix patterns, source furniture and fabrics, visit trade showrooms, solve problems and ultimately present an idea to a client.
I also wanted them to understand something I wish more creative kids heard when they were young:
Interior design has allowed me to build a business around something I genuinely love, and I want young girls to see the many possibilities that exist within this industry.
And I completely understood why.
An immersive design experience created to help you define your style, sharpen your eye, and confidently create a beautiful home.
Discover the world of interior design through hands-on projects, industry experiences, and an unforgettable community of creative girls.
I want you to notice proportion. Understand why one fabric works with another. Recognize what makes a room feel finished. Trust your instincts. And most of all, feel confident in your own creativity.
